Niles Rooker Trio bare their Nashville roots on "I Won't Sleep"

Written by Cameron Capers

With so much country pop music sounding virtually the same, it's refreshing hearing bands like the Niles Rooker Trio that take a genre and truly make it their own. "I Won't Sleep" has the perfect mix of rock, country, and bluegrass.

Aspiring to bring back classic sounds from the 50s and 60s, Niles Rooker and Jeff Meloen started a blues/rock duo in August of 2014. “It was just two friends getting together every day to play muddy blues songs and make the neighbor’s lives difficult.” Rooker states. With the addition of bassist, Ryan Lemp, Rooker was able to achieve a wider dynamic of songwriting as well as a thicker sound as a band. With a plethora of new originals, the trio has performed in familiar places such as Exit/In, Mercy Lounge, The End, and other hot spots throughout Nashville, TN.
